Sony Ericsson has bought in a device that busts the outline of the large screens smartphones: Xperia X10 Mini Pro, with a size of only 2.55 inches. Compared to the first X10, with a 240 x 320 pixels resolution, the Mini Pro has an important advantage: its resolution is expected to be half VGA, concerning an increase to 480 x 320 pixels.

The main differentiation among the Xperia X10 Mini Pro and its kinsman, the Xperia X10 Mini, is the presence of a base slide-out QWERTY keyboard, which is just right for people who can not alter to the completely touch-based mobile phones. Even though we are looking at a small handset, when it comes to browsing speed and using the web on a tiny screen, the power that lies within the Xperia X10 Mini Pro makes it a star. However, it does have a drawback: it does not support Flash.

However, Sony Ericsson ought to have all the credit for making the device as compact as possible, while keeping most of the functionality unharmed. Also, it features Bluetooth and USB for fast data transfer.

Other two features that put the Xperia X10 Mini Pro over our expectations are its 5MP camera, with both auto-focus and flash, and also macro mode, and its detachable battery with a rather small capacity of 930mAh you won’t even notice the difference.

Overall, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro is very cool if you’re looking for a small Android device that won’t break the bank. Actually, it might be the best choice.

Google revealed its new Nexus S and somehow the showcase of the spontaneous Motorola tablet remained out of the spotlight. Well, the strange tablet is running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, so there is no chance it could get away from our attention.

As you may know, Android Honeycomb will be the first edition for the Google OS exclusively optimized for tablets. Despite some tablets are already using Android, the Honeycomb report is the one meant to be running on them.

The new Android Honeycomb seems like a desktop-oriented operating system rather than a mobile one. It should be ready for a summer 2011 release, so we guess the official tablet announcement should take place at that time.

A strange new Galaxy S smartphone has just received DLNA certification, the Samsung SHW-M190S. With DLNA certification the SHW-M190S will pack the technology required to wirelessly play media from our mobile to other devices. Here’s everything we know so far.

In the world of rumored, denied and unannounced mobile phones – certifications are key. The Samsung SHW-M190S is an Android smartphone, possibly the latest in the Galaxy S lineup, which runs Android 2.2 Froyo. The mobile phone is registered as a transferable media device with a 4-inch WVGA AMOLED display (capacitive of course) and Wi-Fi b/g/n along with Bluetooth 3.0.

The device ID we’d suspects we’ll be seeing the Galaxy S typical Snapdragon chipset. Other noteworthy features of the SHW-M190S include a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and aGPS for all that handy phone navigation wizardry.

As far as release date and carrier information we don’t know much at this point. What we can confirm is that the SHW-M190S will arrive on SKT network at some point in time. Until we see a FCC filing which includes the band study we can’t be certain which carriers will land this bad boy.

The LG Optimus One P500 is a great example of an affordable yet highly functional Android smartphone. A successor to the original LG Optimus, the Optimus One includes a 3.2in capacitive touchscreen and runs the latest version of Google’s Android platform. It is excellent value for money and has plenty of features.

Low-end Android smartphones often compromise on display quality to keep costs down. It has a respectable 320×480 resolution, making it better than direct competitors like the HTC Wildfire and the Huawei IDEOS.

The LG Optimus One P500 is one of the first smartphones to ship with the latest version of Google’s Android operating system, 2.2 or ‘Froyo’.

The LG Optimus One P500 has a 3.2Mp camera that takes average pictures and lacks a flash for night-time photography.

Overall performance is adequate but not outstanding; the LG Optimus One can often be a little sluggish when loading graphically intense websites, although we didn’t experience too much lag when running multiple applications simultaneously.

Battery life is about what we would expect from an Android phone: the Optimus One should last a full day, but it will need an injection of power every night.

Nokia has revealed that its N8 smartphone, based on the Symbian^3 platforms has received the largest number of pre-orders in the company’s history.

The N8 has Nokia’s latest flagship smartphone and runs the latest edition of the company’s home-grown mobile operating system, Symbian^3.With Apple’s iPhone Operating System and Google’s Android Platform cornering the market, interest in Symbian has been waning in recent years, and many believe that the N8 represents Nokia’s final attempt to gain ground in the smartphone market: if the N8 fails, so does Symbian as a viable platform.

“The Nokia N8 has received the highest amount of consumer pre-orders in Nokia history,” making the N8 launch the biggest the company has ever experienced.

For a company that, the most popular mobile manufacturer, that’s a pretty tall order – and could see the Symbian platform given a new lease of life, although whether Nokia can convince others to adopt it once more remains to be seen.
