Nokia’s smartphone has build quality and very good battery life along with an 8Mp camera among its broad range of features it remains constrained by its clunky operating system.
Nokia’s C7 is a good smartphone with its glossy glass front and matt black plastic and stainless steel cover. It measures 117 x 57 x 11mm and 130g. While bigger, it’s more or less of the same weight as the C6-01 released about the same time. Above the 3.5in screen are light sensor and VGA camera for calls, with backlit call start and stop buttons below surrounding an extruded menu button.
It has features like camera shutter and screen lock switch and Nokia power port, with power button, 3.5mm headphone jack and micro USB sync port covered by a plastic perforation, all packed onto the top also with dual LED flash, and also the battery to get to the microSD card.
The capacitive multi-touch screen is large and clear and normally divine perhaps not the most sensitive but some time it is required to presses two or three to access functions.
It runs on Symbian 3, the latest version of Nokia’s operating system and first seen on the latest Nokia N8. It allows you to customize your phone’s screen with widgets and shortcuts – including Quickoffice and Nokia’s free sat nav application.
Call quality, was good with the onboard speaker, giving clear and untrammeled speech which was easily distinguishable even above heavy background traffic. Wi-Fi connectivity was also approachable than usual. Even so, the Symbian browser still isn’t much fun to use, with its messy navigation and options system.
Video can record at 720p HD and looks very good, definitely sufficient for YouTube standards. As for movie playback, the results seem exciting though there’s no option to extend the picture to fit the display's dimensions, which can leave some letterboxed films looking cramped.
Conclusion
This handset is a steadily built, a resourceful smartphone with a fine screen, well-brought-up camera and excellent battery life, but let down by the Symbian operati006Eg system.
