iPad 2 camera is it less than 1-megapixel?

Apple’s often quite hazy when it comes to giving the details of its handsets, and one bit of information it doesn’t seem eager to reveal its new iPad 2 that has an exact nature of the rear camera. According to source, it’s more iPod touch than iPhone 4.

The iPhone 4 is designed to accommodate advanced features such as high definition cameras, which is ideal for those who like to keep their moments with them supplying them with the best mobile cameras in the business. However, the equivalent iPod touch has turned up a few months later contained a far inferior snapper.

Now it seems that the iPad 2 is following suit. According to sources the device’s rear snapper is good only for video: “The specs for the iPad’s rear-facing camera only list one number: 720p. That should mean 1280 x 720 pixels, which gives a megapixel figure of 0.92, clearly hopeless for stills.”

In fact, it considers that the iPad 2 and iPod touch may share identical cameras, which would mean that it shoot at “just shy of 0.7 megapixels.”

Of course, as we’ve observed someone we don’t see the same necessity for a top quality camera in our tablets as we do in our smartphones. The very nature of them means you won’t be beating one out for an unprepared shot. Still, it’s a little odd featuring such a limited camera in a best gadget.
